As many of you know we we’re super hyped over here at The Rebellious Reflection when Natural Disaster dropped. If you haven’t seen it yet then you’re missing out, but lucky for you we got it for you right here on the site! Now that you’ve seen it for sure, we wanted to give you a taste of what went into making a video like this, why the style and feel is so unique, and what its like to produce a full length skate video in such a short period of time. We got in touch with the producer Daniel Haney and asked him a few questions about how the whole thing went down, the ridiculousness of the premier, and even what it was like filming with the guys in the video. Needless to say we got some of the realest answers we could have asked for. So without further adieu. Enjoy!
First off, whats it like having the same name as a professional skateboarder while being in the skateboard industry?
Oh man it’s annoying as fuck. I mean the guy grinds some gnarly ass shit, mad respect for that, but come on, cowboy hat and shorts?? i actually know this girl who knows him and calls me DH2. He is DH1 apparently. No joke. Im pretty sure we’ve both hooked up with her before. I think that dude owns like some resort now, I’ve actually talked to him on the phone before, and he wrote me on myspace back when we all cared about myspace and asked me if my real name is Daniel Haney. I think I told him I wanted to film with him or some shit, what if me and him did something together? That’d be amazing. One time Chet Childress called me and was like talking about like all the good times we had in Alabama or some shit, he saw my number in the homie’s phone and thought it was the “real” Daniel Haney I guess.

Give us the technical breakdown for the nerds. What camera(s) did you use to shoot the video?
Well I have a Panasonic DVX100B, with the scratched death lens. And filmed some of the shit with the Flip HD camera. Like the stuff in the snow thats sped up I actually fast forwarded the footage on final cut with one hand and just filmed the computer screen with the other hand on the Flip HD. You can see me the reflection of the camera on the screen if you look closely. There’s some random VX1 footy in there too, I’ve always wanted one of those, the sound is so classic on those pups. I wish there was more 7D shit in there, I’ve borrowed that and the new Rebel from my friends a few times, but they’re not really down to hook it up too often. I’d love to make a whole 7D vid, not to be all like hip to the times but those things are fucking sick! They really show what I’m feeling when I work with it, theres some footy on my vimeo if anybody wants to check it that’s shot with the 7D. Damn, are these answers way too long?
